A fib ?

No, “gospel truth”! Almost two years ago, I had an incident with atrial-fibrilation and have been instructed to, daily, take the prescription drug “Eliquis.”  My container was empty. As noted in recent blog messages, I have been very sick for more than two weeks (no exaggeration). Despite a total lack of energy, I forced myself to walk the considerable distance from my apartment to my KIA. Then the four mile drive to H.E.B. (popular Texas grocery chain) because driving ten miles across Waco seemed impossible. Getting my prescription transferred was a lengthy process. While waiting for the prescription, I browsed the aisles of drug store items. I put several containers of TexaClear allergy remedies in my cart. Several bags of cough drops because of my frequent coughing spells. (The pharmacist said TexaClear is effective for mold, too.)

Further down the aisles, I picked up another six-roll package of paper towels. They replace the five rolls of paper towels I used as I feverishly worked to soak up all the water (on my floors) from the toilet that overflowed. ~~ More household items were added to my cart: Drano (because of my very, very slow-running drains), liquid laundry soap, etc. These… between repeated checking for the “pending” prescription. Finally, with the container of Eliquis in my hands, I headed for the registers and checked out. I nearly had a heart attack when the items were totaled: $273.81. (The prescription was paid for at the Pharmacy.)

My next big purchase will be an air purifier. Many years ago, I was a distributor of EcoQuest air purifiers. I gave two away a year ago as I prepared for my move from the RV park to this retirement facility. The rumor (here at this retirement facility) suggests MOLD is the reason a number of residents are “suffering from allergies.”  True story: I’ve never suffered from allergies!! I can’t remember a time when I have been as sick as I have been the past (almost) three weeks!!

I’ve only been to the dining room a couple of times. I’ve been “using up” food items from my move almost one year ago. Some canned items have a 2022 date on them. (Yes, I put a date on my purchased items. Silly old lady?!) True story: I’m much too thrifty to pay $5.00 to have a meal delivered to my room. “Yes,”  I’m on the road to recovery but far from feeling good.

  1. Eliquis is not one of those things you take for a couple weeks and the malady goes away. I’ve had to start similar treatment of late, I don’t like it anymore than you do, but I like it a whole lot more than as sick as I was before I started. Still eat health foods, bear-ly eat meat; don’t drink, galivant or take drugs ~ not even aspirin ~ unless I have to, go to great lengths to avoid chemical pollution. Nothing has changed except that I don’t ever want to be that sick again

Seriously Mother, you doing pretty good, why sabotage yourself?
