Heaping praise…

… where praise is due!

Sheila is an artist in the assembly of jigsaw puzzles. Look! The dog puzzle was completed in two days. Sheila has “magic hands.” ~~ Yet to be determined: Will we “save” this puzzle, also? I wish the owners would allow us to display the puzzles in the public areas, but the answer was a loud emphatic “NO.”

Too nice?

Hours spent on an unusual project. The “bedroom” of my apartment is actually my “storeroom.” My twin bed is in the living room. Until a few hours ago, I had minimal access to my closet and chest-of-drawers. I have been collecting empty cardboard boxes so I can share them with residents packing for a move. Many recent acquisitions had been tossed into the room.  I have been a “saver” and “recycler” all my adult life (by necessity). Today I was desperate for some “open” area, so I shifted things into the kitchen and living room. Then I consolidated the boxes and accessories. The project isn’t finished, but I have some “elbow room” now. Tucked behind the plastic crates, cardboard for backing for jigsaw puzzles, and large plate glass used as a weight on top of the glued backing on jigsaw puzzles. Furthermore, I have boxes with collected items destined for Salvation Army donations.

Postscript: Project “modification.” Long after the glue is dry, the puzzles still have a tendency to “curl.” Any suggestions about how I can rectify the problem? Yes, I can take the Hummingbird puzzle to Michael’s for a custom frame. How much will that cost? Frankly, I don’t want the Butterfly puzzle in a frame. My brain is questioning, day and night, about how to resolve the “curl” problem. Also: What type of “hanger” should I use behind the puzzle?

“Old lady Lorraine” loves to climb the family tree. “Fitting” individuals in their proper place, on their branch of the tree, provides an enormous sense of accomplishment. Does Lorraine have “magic fingers”?

Praising God for my hobby

The TV is turned off. I am so weary of Maduro news and Mamdani news. It may sound gross to be happy for “obituaries,” but I am able to document the recently dearly departed individual and the extended family. Ancestry subscribers, far and wide, may see my information and see the connection to their family. A residentfriend combines jigsaw puzzle pieces. I combine people and create a large “picture” that is beautiful in my eyes. Beautiful in God’s eyes, too?  My ancestors: Biblebelieving, Christcentered individuals.

I went grocery shopping yesterday afternoon (Sunday afternoon). OMG, I think half of Waco was in my favorite grocery store. People, elbow to elbow, no exaggeration. I like to think folks are encouraged by lower grocery prices (and drug costs?). Personally, I was desperate for some “good” food. The meals, served in the dining room, seem to get worse every week. “Meals to die for.” I spent $83.70 on Progresso soup, bananas, fresh salad greens, celery, carrots, bell pepper, Newman’s salad dressing, butter, “ancient grains organic” bread, toilet tissue, and more. No meat, cheese, eggs, cookies, soda, or booze. Also, some Christmas candy on sale for nineteen cents each, and they will go into the Valentine’s Day wagon load of treats.

Living in Freedom Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Psalm 32:1While we celebrate the uniqueness of every individual created in the image of God, there is one way in which all humans are alike. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). That means we have all experienced what happens when we do things we know we shouldn’t. We all experience the guilt, shame, and remorse that comes with disappointing ourselves, others, and especially disappointing God.

What would our lives be like if there was no way to remove the consequences of our failures? Guilt and shame would multiply and lead us to a life of despair. The Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is that our sins can be forgiven and we can have a clear conscience. “The Lord has laid on [Christ] the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). “If we confess our sins, [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Those who have received God’s gift of forgiveness through faith in Christ can live a life of freedom from guilt and shame.Experience today the blessing of God’s forgiveness for all your sins—past, present, and future.

Forgiveness is to be set loose from sins.
