Incredibly awesome experience!

GOD, my Heavenly Father, spoke to me this morning. As many of my readers know, I spend most of my time in my room “climbing the family tree.” I have confessed that it is “my medicine.” This morning, I was expecting a visitor, so I took the book, my mug of coffee, and sat by the elevator awaiting the friend. I have intentionally distanced myself from the distressing circumstances in this senior retirement facility. According to God’s Word, I am to be “salt and light,” and “salt” isn’t of any value if it stays in the salt shaker. To put a smile on your face, I’m showing a picture of the salt grinder-dispenser in my cupboard.

Inquiring minds want to know

How much does it cost Asher Point to send an advertisement to a multitude(?) of email addresses? This email arrived in my email inbox. (Click that link.) Personally, I would like Asher Point to spend money on healthy food for the one hundred (more or less) senior citizen residents. I wish we had an adequate number of Staff employees. On the third floor (my floor), we went for three months without “housekeeping” services. We have not enjoyed a bus driver since June. “They” constantly have contractors remodeling the units when a resident moves out. “They” remodel very comfortable apartments so “they” can charge more money for that unit. We constantly have new charges and rent increases. I could list the names of residents who were forced to move because they didn’t have enough income to pay for the rent increase. I could list the names of residents who have moved from (example) one-bedroom to a studio, or two-bedroom to a one-bedroom.  In our laundry room, we had a problem with the washing machines for months. Residents have told me they, too, have problems with the washers or dryers (on their floor). There are several additional measures that could be taken to enhance the comfort of the residents. We are in our “sunset years,” and we moved to Asher Point anticipating the features they document in web advertisements. True story: Features do not match the advertisement.

Christmas poem

Third time’s a charm? The following was previously published on December 6th, 2021.

The repeat of a blog message originally published on June 15th, 2021. ~~~ Lorraine was doing something unusual; Lorraine was cleaning house!! ~~ There was a heartstopping moment with the realization of the treasure in my hands. The newspaper was turning brown, although only eighteen months old. A lady-friend at Rainbow’s End RV Park, in Livingston, Texas, read the poem to the residents gathered for a Christmas potluck supper (2019). I loved that poem and asked for a copy. Pat generously gave me the newspaper. Today (6/15/21), I typed the words so the “Christmas poem” is my June poem gift to my friends and family.

‘Twas the night before Jesus came, and all through the house
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.
Their Bibles were laid on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.
The children were dressing to crawl into bed.
Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.
When out of the East there arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a minute this must be THE DAY!
The light of His face made me cover my head
It was Jesus, returning like He had said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.
In the Book of Life which He held in his hand,
Was written the name of every saved man.
He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;
When He said “It’s not here” my head hung in shame.
The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready, He rose without a sound.
While all the rest were left standing around,
I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.
In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There’s only one life and when comes the last call
We’ll find that the Bible was true after all.

Author of the poem is Lou Pinter

Unusual

I did two loads of laundry. That is something on the embarrassing list of “procrastinated” tasks. (I’d rather “climb the family tree.”) Fresh out of the dryer, it’s time (4:35) to fold the clothes and put them away. A day and a half for the “unusual.”  Kudos?
