Biden puts his foot in his mouth
Unfortunately for Kamala, her big closing spotlight was stolen by Joe Biden, who opened his mouth and inserted his foot in the biggest political kamikaze move since Hillary called half of America a “basket of deplorables.”
Biden was ranting to an interviewer about a comedian who appeared very early during Trump’s MSG rally and made a tasteless joke about the garbage problem in Puerto Rico, calling it an island of garbage. It was a bad and inappropriate joke, but it was just a joke by a comic that Trump didn’t know. He wasn’t even in the building at the time and didn’t hear it, and those who did didn’t laugh, so it obviously didn’t represent the views of his supporters.
Despite that, liberal media outlets spent the day hyperventilating over it, claiming it was proof that Trump and all his supporters are vicious racists, and that only Nazis would call a large group of people “garbage,” which is the worst thing you can say (not that the comic said that.)
And then along came Joe…
It was bad enough when he once again seemed to encourage violence against Trump, who’s already survived two assassination attempts, by saying, “I’d like to take that guy for a swim out there…”
But later, after getting all riled up into Angry Grandpa mode over the joke, he fumed to an interviewer, “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and it is un-American.”
(Again, note that Trump did not say that, but Biden apparently believes he did.) This slur was so bad that it sparked debates over whether Biden said it because he’s in that phase of cognitive decline where you lose your filter, or if he was actually trying to sabotage Harris for conspiring with others to force him out of the race after he won the nomination.
The White House tried to spin, backtrack and deny the quote, and even resorted to creative punctuation…
Meanwhile, Biden’s media lackeys tried the old “he stutters” dodge. And Politico attempted to gaslight readers by claiming he “said ‘the only garbage’ was the ‘hatred’ of Trump supporters who said such things about American citizens.” No, get your ears cleaned, guys. He said tens of millions of Americans who support Trump are garbage.

Trump responded at a rally by turning the other tongue-in-cheek, and asking Jesus to forgive him, for “he knoweth not what he said” (that could apply to a lot of things Joe says.)
Instead of pressing her campaign messaging, after remaining silent all night, Harris had to go on defense Wednesday morning. She said, “I think that first of all, he clarified his comments, but let me be clear, I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for.”
So does that mean she no longer thinks we’re Nazis, either? I’m still trying to figure out whether it’s a step up to be called “garbage” rather than “NazI’ or a demotion. Either way, it’s not exactly the language of “unity.” But it became the big story of the night, and the true and fitting finale to the divisive, anger-fueled Harris For President campaign which has filled the national political discourse with a whole lot of garbage.
