Out the door at 8:45 AM to drive across town for a regularly scheduled doctor’s appointment. Waco traffic is terrifying and I was stopped by every red light. I was praying for protection all the way and, gratefully, arrived safely and was not late. I have a wonderful doctor and she encouraged me to have another flu shot. So the lab work and shot consumed additional time… so out the door (of doctor’s office) at 11:45. Next stop was a salon where I got an overdue, much-needed haircut.
True story: I hate WalMart but sometimes I’m forced to shop there for an item, or two, that I can’t find at my favorite H.E.B. grocery store. I browsed many aisles and looked at the enormous display of Christmas items. OMG, it isn’t Halloween or Thanksgiving, and (repeat) an “enormous” display of Christmas items. I didn’t buy… because, in my humble opinion, outrageously expensive!
I had skipped breakfast—at my Retirement Home—because I was “fasting” before blood was drawn in the lab. It was long past lunch time when I stopped at a Dairy Queen for an ice cream “Blizzard.” It was especially delicious because we rarely have ice cream at the Retirement Home.
Next stop was my favorite Goodwill store. FYI, I lived on “that side of town” for three years. I only return twice a year for the Doctor’s appointments. I love to browse for accessories for the “costumes” that I wear (frequently) at the Retirement Home. Costumes that put a smile on the faces of the residents. One purchase may (may) be worn on Wednesday, November 3rd.
I arrived “home” at 3:55 and enjoyed a brief rest before going to the dining room for the evening meal. I was thoroughly exhausted but confess that I was delighted with every minute of my shopping trip—a rewarding day. (My doctor had affirming words of reassurance regarding my especially good health.)
Recap: $30. for my haircut, $62.67 at WalMart, $6.05 for the “Blizzard,” and $20.00 at Goodwill—and (IMHO) well worth every penny! ~~ Twenty-one miles driven.
